PAL PRIVACY PLEDGE
The Police Athletic League uses every effort to respect the privacy of its online visitors. We are aware of the trust that you place in us and our responsibility to protect the privacy of our supporters as well as our families, youth and volunteers. As part of this responsibility, we want to let you know what information we collect on our website, how we collect it, and how we use this information.
By accessing this website, you agree to the terms set forth in this Privacy Policy. The Police Athletic League regularly updates and reviews this policy to ensure your digital safety. At our site, we do not collect personally identifiable information from individuals unless you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. This means we do not require you to register or provide information to us in order to view our site. This policy is your guide as to how we handle your information safely and securely.
INFORMATION COLLECTED by PAL and THIRD PARTIES
The Police Athletic League only gathers personally identifiable data, such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, email addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by you. For example, personally identifiable information may be collected in order to make an online donation. This information is used solely by The Police Athletic League for internal purposes to process the transaction by a secure third-party provider or to respond to an inquiry.
Using a form, PAL collects information for our summer camp and teen program participants and their families via our online program registration. During program registration we collect names, postal, and email addresses, phone number and other information about families and participants. This information is voluntarily submitted to us and is shared with PAL staff for registration of these activities.
PAL uses third-party service providers to perform certain services, including to manage our sports registrations, to operate our online shop for PAL merchandise, to register and pay for events and to collect donations that you generously contribute to PAL. The third-party service providers may collect your bank or credit card information when you submit a donation and that credit card/bank information is not shared with PAL. Third parties have secure system that do not allow us to see any credit card information and, in some cases, your personal information. This is for your security and digital protection.
We care about the safety and security of your transaction. We use high grade encryption and https security protocol to communicate with your browser software through our third-party software. This method is the industry standard security protocol, which makes it extremely difficult for anyone else to intercept the credit card information you send to us. Companies we work with to process credit card transactions also use high grade encryption and security protocols.
If you believe your credit card was charged in error or you did not sign up to receive our emails or mail, you can always opt out by contacting the Advancement Department by writing above or by clicking the ‘opt out’ or ‘email preferences’ link at the bottom of any of our emails to you. We use a third-party service provider to collect information needed to conduct background checks on our volunteers. This third-party service provider conforms to information security industry standards for safekeeping personal information. We do not run a background check without a volunteer’s permission.
Third-parties are used for job applications online and PAL’s mobile app. This information is shared with PAL staff securely for your digital protection.
We only share personally identifiable information with third parties when the person submitting the information authorizes us to share it; sharing the information is a necessary operation of the site, for instance, to process a credit card transaction, or we are required to by law.
EMPLOYEE VERIFICATION
The Police Athletic League utilizes an automated employment verification service, allowing current and former PAL employees to have employment and salary information easily verified by third parties. THE WORK NUMBER® is a fast, secure service used for mortgage applications, reference checks, loan applications, apartment leases, and anything that requires proof of employment.

You may be a parent interested in receiving more information about PAL programs/ activities or you are making an inquiry as an alumnus. When you do this, you fill out a question or comment form and your information is provided to us. We use this to respond to your request and help answer your question. We may forward your email to another employee to help fulfill your request. Please note that we receive this information voluntarily from the request form. We do not share this information or add you to a mailing or email list without your permission.

Visitors should be aware that non-personal information and data may be automatically collected by The Police Athletic League's website through the use of "cookies."
